About Betterment

Betterment is a leading, technology-driven financial services company that offers investing, savings and retirement solutions for retail investors and investment advisors as well as financial wellness solutions, including a 401(k) for small and medium-sized businesses. Our team is passionate about our mission, to empower people to build wealth with confidence and ease.  We’re headquartered in NYC and offer hybrid NY-based positions (four days/ week in-office, with no required office days during the summer and winter holidays).

About the Role:

We’re looking for a consultative, business minded Business Systems & Tools individual contributor who pairs strong technical depth with a RevOps mindset. This role goes beyond system administration or ticket fulfillment - you’ll operate as a trusted partner to our GTM organization, helping Sales, Marketing, and Customer Experience translate complex business problems into scalable system and process solutions.

As a Salesforce & Business Systems Engineer you’ll be accountable not only for how systems are built, but why - ensuring solutions improve workflows, strengthen integrations, enable data-driven decision-making, and ultimately drive B2B growth within your scope of ownership. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in ambiguity, enjoys problem solving with stakeholders, and sees systems as a lever for business impact.

This role is based out of our NYC office. Below we've reflected the base salary range for this position. Actual salaries may vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of Betterment’s total compensation package for employees.

  • New York City: $125,000-$145,000

This job may also be eligible for variable compensation in the form of a company incentive bonus.

A Day in the Life:

  • Act as a consultative partner to key B2B stakeholders by helping frame problems, identifying patterns, risks, and opportunities across systems, data workflows, and recommending pragmatic scalable solutions
  • Oversee integrations across core systems, proactively auditing and refining them to support accurate, up-to-date workflows and functionality.
  • Partner with stakeholders to deeply understand business problems, define success criteria, and translate needs into scalable system designs and implementations
  • Enable effective system adoption by creating and maintaining clear documentation, best practices, and enablement material; and support onboarding for new hires on Salesforce and other relevant internal tools
  • Serve as a system administrator and provide day-to-day support for Salesforce and related business systems, such as user access, account maintenance, reports, workflows, and permissions
  • Continuously develop your skills and domain knowledge through self-directed learning, training, and industry resources, applying new insights to improve systems and ways of working.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Strong proficiency in Salesforce administration: managing user profiles, roles, permissions, and security settings; customizing and configuring Salesforce objects, fields, layouts, workflows, and reports; and utilizing Salesforce declarative development tools such as Flow and Lightning App Builder
  • Experience owning business systems in B2B/SaaS organizations, with a focus on supporting GTM teams and processes
  • Strong consultative mindset with demonstrated ability to influence stakeholders, ask the right questions, and co-create solutions in ambiguous environments
  • Proven cross-functional partnership with business stakeholders such as sales, client success, and servicing teams; able to gather business requirements, analyze processes, and identify opportunities for system enhancement and automation
  • Experience with integrating Salesforce to other business applications, with an understanding of integration design, data flow, and system dependencies
  • Familiarity with marketing automation tools, preferably HubSpot
  • Familiarity with Apex programming language, Visualforce, and Lightning Components
  • Proven ability to independently own projects
  • Solid data literacy, including the ability to interpret and validate data across systems to support reporting and analysis
  • Hands-on experience building and/or supporting reports and dashboards (e.g., Salesforce reports/dashboards or downstream BI tools)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Salesforce certifications are highly desired
